While carpet remains an overall popular choice for bedrooms, stairs and second floors, more and more homes we visit have hardwood, tile or laminate floors in the living areas. This has been an ongoing trend in homes for the last decade. Even with the downturn economy, homeowners are tearing out their carpet and replacing it with hardwood flooring of some variety.

While non-carpeted floors are generally easier to maintain, they're not entirely free of some minimum care. Because of this we've added hardwood floor cleaning to our list of services.

Please keep in mind that this is not the same as refinishing. If your floors have deep scratches (we can address some scratches) or have run bare, then a refinishing is most likely in order.

A professional polishing adds the shine and luster back to your floors giving it a fresh, new look. The steps required to accomplish this can be a bit time consuming. So if you're considering having this done keep in mind that it might take a while.

Here's how it works:

• First thing we do is vacuum and sweep all of the floors as thouroughly as possible. All dust and debris needs to be removed as much as possible.
• To take this even further we then spray a mild cleaning solution and run a soft scrub across the floor providing a top surface agitation that removes even more soil. The floor is then rinsed and completely dried.
• The next step is to add a refinishing applicator to the floor. This is added generously and applied with a micro fiber pad. The applicator must be applied with great care. It's very easy to overlook areas and miss spots, use too much refinisher or other dilemmas.
• The final steps are to let it dry and re-apply. One to three and in some cases four coats might be needed.

Once dried you will be left with deep, rich hardwood floors that will simply amaze you and your guests.
