Move out cleaning is not enjoyable, but its a part of the process of moving on.

But which is worse – not getting your deposit back or having a lousy day making sure you get all your ducks in a row?

We can get you cleaned up and looking good for your inspection. However, you need to do a little homework in order to make sure you get all of your dough back.

First, make sure you contact your landlord, property management company or building manager and double verify all the requirements necessary for a proper move out.

Be sure to ask about holes from nails, tacks, etc. Do you need to fill them or not?

How about walls? Do you need to wash them or will management take care of it?

Also, always be sure to remind them how long you’ve been a tenant. The longer you’ve resided at a place the more wear and tear you’re allocated.

Put it this way:

Let’s say you’ve been a tenant at an apartment building for 2+ years and you paid $850.00 a month in rent.

Over two years you’ve given them a cool $20,400.00!

Remind them (and yourself) of this!

Lastly, be present for the walk through. Do not let them walk the property alone. Often times they will try and do the inspection without you. This is not what you want to let happen. Being a part of the walk through allows you to address any potential issues immediately.

One of the busiest times for us occurs around the last and first few days of the month. Las Vegas has always had a ton of movement from people coming and going, but add to it the housing dilemma and the overall economy in general and you end up with a whirlwind of activity.

One thing we do suggest for those that are moving out is that you have the place completely empty prior to us doing any work. The reason for this is so that there is little or no activity once the cleaning is complete. No footprints, no potential for scuffing or other related issues will be of concern.

The flip side to this are those moving in. This can be tough since you want to have the place clean, especially your carpets, so you schedule a cleaning. However, what happens when you move in? Tons of feet coming in and out from the driveway or street tracking in tons of dirt, oil and more. Depending on your situation you might be better off having the place cleaned after you move in. This way your freshly cleaned carpets will last longer.
